Grow your own Aloe Vera Extract Cheaply!
Use Aloe Vera for your Skin:
Aloe vera is easy to grow and is way cheaper than buying aloe vera gel and creams. The fresh aloe vera sap it is more potent too. Simply cut a leaf open and ready is the luxury aloe vera skin moisturizer against acne, wrinkles and strechmarks. A fresh aloe vera leaf soothes after too much sun.
Aloe Vera as a mosquito-repellent:
Rub your skin with a sliced open aloe vera leaf and you won't get bitten by mosquitos. Commercial products often contain poisonous chemicals.
Use Aloe Vera for healthy teeth and fight caries:
Aloe vera gel prevents caries by reducing plaque. It is helpful for bleeding and swollen gums and strengthens them. It whitens the teeth.
You can use the gel straight from the plant or use a recpie like this one here: aloe vera tooth gel.
Some Medicinal uses of Aloe Vera:
- Lowers blood sugar,
- natural laxative,
- for burns, wounds, skin irritations and psoriasis,
- relieves heartburn, arthritis and rheumatism pain.
How to grow Aloe vera:
Unlike other plants, aloe vera does not mind being overwintered on a window sill. Aloe vera does not like the freezing winters in Katoomba.
I found that strangely, aloe vera is a plant which dislikes full sun; the leaves get all pale in sun. My aloe vera pots are sitting under trees! Of course it needs perfect drainage.
A word of caution:
Do not use Aloe vera if you suffer Crohn’s disease, colitis, or haemorrhoids. Don't take aloe vera if you’re taking other medications, because it may decrease your body’s ability to absorb the drugs.
